I recently discovered something very interesting. Every time I come home, my cat will go to the cat scratching board to sharpen its claws. Why is that? Is the cat showing you its strength?
In fact, neither is true. This is a manifestation of its dependence on you and its concern for you. Cats and humans have different cognitions. In their eyes, you and it are both cats, but you are a large two-legged cat, and they can’t understand what it means to go to work. In their eyes, you go out to hunt, and you come home to hunt. Bringing something back means hunting is successful, and not bringing anything back means hunting failure. These are memories engraved in the cat’s bones.
But in their cognition, hunting is dangerous, and if hunting fails, you will die, so every time you go out for a long time, they will worry about your safety. The cat’s mood at this time is relatively depressed. When seeing the owner return home safely, the cat’s depressed mood is also released. Some cats will wait for you at the door, meow or act coquettishly with you. Some cats will go to the cat scratching board to sharpen their claws after seeing you come back at the door, stretch their bodies, and relax their tense mood. If you can give them some encouragement or snacks at this time, your relationship will be more harmonious.
